“When I started making The Joy of Music I wanted to be willing to take chances and chase after anything that felt magnetic, to push past my comfort zone and be okay with failing. I spent a lot of time being really afraid to fail and then I realized that that wasn’t a great way to go through life or make art,” Rector tells People. “I’m in a place of deep gratitude for the opportunity to make art that I love and am genuinely excited to put this record out into the world.”

Leading up to release week, Rector made a high profile appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan where he performed a stripped down version of “Living My Best Life.” Afterwards, he spoke with the show’s hosts where Ryan Seacrest dubbed it a “beautiful song” while guest host, Carson Kressley, expressed he “loved it.”

Rector is known for releasing positivity-infused music that “encapsulates all the warm feelings” (People.com) and the upcoming “feel-good album” (E! Online) is no exception. The songwriter has plans to make 2022 his most successful year yet, with a short film and concert tour to accompany this album. Rector had a noteworthy last year amid the pandemic, with the release of the red hot tune “Range Rover,” which featured industry icon Steve Winwood. The year also brought him a high profile appearance as an all-star mentor on the ABC hit show American Idol alongside Ryan Tedder, Jewel, Jason Aldean, Brian McKnight, and Joss Stone (among others). Rector spent the majority of his time during the pandemic working on The Joy Of Music and he believes it’s his “best music yet.”

Ready to live his best life, the “millennial playlist staple” (HuffPost), will make his return to the road with his upcoming tour THE JOY OF MUSIC – A Live Music Event kicking off on May 5. For more information and tickets visit benrectormusic.com.
