Battlefield 2021 Is Not Bad Company 3 According to Leak
Battlefield gives the series a new installment, though it won’t be in the near future. A new leak reveals the successful development of Battlefield 2021. Unfortunately enough, as rumors have suggested in the past, it will not be Bad Company 3. There is some logic behind it, though.
User Throwaway123, who appears to have worked with two ex-employees of DICE, exposed the leak on Reddit.
The sources told him that Battlefield 2021 was conceptualized alongside Battlefield V. However, earlier DICE decided to launch the title of World War 2 Battlefield simply because less development and production time was required. The production of Battlefield 2021 resumed after BFV was nearly complete and it will be the next title we’ll see in the series.
Battlefield 2021 is not Bad Company 3
The original concept, according to the leaker, was to be a sequel to Bad Company 2 for Battlefield 2021. The idea fell apart, however, and the team had to amend the strategy because it “didn’t feel like a bad company.” In March / April 2019, the idea was dropped back and that’s why next year we won’t see a new addition to the franchise. We are now looking at an entirely new IP, based on the strength
Battlefield 2021 Setting
The post goes on to say that in a modern era, Battlefield 2021 will be set. To be exact, a near-future age. Players will have at their fingertips robots, drones and AI and all the new weapons that might suit their universe. His story will be closer to what was Battlefield 3 or 4 before the franchise took on the “war theme,” according to the leaker.
That concerns us most though is the gameplay of the Battlefield 2021. If the leak is real, Levolution will make a comeback for the players with more events and actions. The same goes for Dash, Air Assault, Breakthrough and Conquest, Commander mode.
DICE has a particular interest in devastation, something that we also saw in the previous title. Because the game is going to be released on next-gen devices, we’re going to see tactical warfare on a whole new level. The leaker says the following:
On the topic of destruction, it has been majorly improved thanks to next-gen capabilities, bullets realistically penetrate walls depending on material, leaving actual bullet holes in the geometry. Buildings can now fully collapse again, instead of just breaking apart walls, so you can chip away at foundations and load bearing walls to make the entire building come down. Destruction is also now ‘material based’ so a wood wall will break apart with just one explosive round, or a load of bullets while a metal or concrete wall will require a lot more damage to break open. Apparently on one map they are planning to make it so that you can destroy entire skyscrapers with jet strikes etc.
Wrapping things up, remember that this is nothing more than deception and that behind it there is no proof of legitimacy. If and when Battlefield 2021 hits, we will learn when the first news can be dropped by Electronic Arts and DICE.
